The Privacy Act sets out a clear framework for the collection, access, storage and use of personal information.  At apd, we recognise the importance of protecting the privacy of our clients and are committed to respecting your privacy.  We only use the information we collect about you to maximise the services that we provide to you. Collection of your personally identifiable information

When used in this policy, “personal information” has the meaning given to that term in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).  Personal information generally includes any information that can be used to personally identify you, that is reasonably necessary for our business to function, such as:

Other Information

We may also collect information from you that is not personal information (as it does not identify you personally).  This information is normally retained with your personal information and may include:

How we collect your information

  • Your experience when interacting with us may be delayed or not as efficient as you may expect; or

Unsolicited Information

We will endeavour to only take information from you which is reasonably necessary for our business functions.  If you send us personal information that we have not requested, or we determine that the personal information you have provided to us is not reasonably necessary or directly related to any of our business functions or activities, we may de-identify or delete this information without notifying you to protect your privacy.

Correction of your information

If any of your personally identifiable information held by apd is incorrect or incomplete and you would like us to update or amend the record, please contact us (via the “contact us” page via our website or this link).  And we will make the requested amendments.  We may ask you to verify your identity to ensure that personal information we hold is not improperly accessed.

Direct Marketing / Opting Out

We may send you direct marketing communications and information about products and/or services offered by us or our partners or suppliers via the channels you have nominated.  If you have indicated a preference for a method of communication, we will endeavour to use that method wherever practical to do so.  You may opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time by responding via the channel in which you received the marketing communication, or by contacting us (via the “contact us” page via our website or this link).  If you’d prefer not to receive our emails, simply reply to the email and state “unsubscribe” in the subject line.  We do not provide your personal information to any other organisations for the purposes of direct marketing. 

How we keep your information & Security

We may hold your personal information in either electronic or hardcopy (paper) form.  If you provide information to us electronically we retain this information in our computer systems and databases.  This includes computer software programs, internet servers, and hosted internet solutions provided by third parties.  If you provide information to us in hard copy this information is retained in our files and a copy is made to our electronic files.  apd takes the security of your personally identifiable information seriously and will take all reasonable steps to ensure it is protected from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, disclosure or alteration, both online and offline.

This may include the police service, ambulance service, or government departments or regulators within Australia in connection with law enforcement activities.

Your personal information will not be shared, sold, rented or disclosed other than as described in this privacy policy.

Accessing your information

You may access any of your personal information held by apd, by making a request in writing to us (via the “contact us” page via our website or this link) and detail your request and provide proof of identity before we can release it to you.  We will provide a record of your personal information to you via your preferred contact method (phone, email or mail), a small administration fee may be applicable.  If your request is unlawful or may interfere with the privacy of others we may reasonably refuse to provide access to your personal information.


If you feel your privacy has been breached, or you wish to discuss with us about your privacy, or our privacy policy please contact us using the contact information above, setting out the circumstances and reasons for your complaint.  Our staff will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 72 hours, and will normally respond to your request within 5 business days.  If your complaint is complicated or requires further investigation our response may take additional time to finalise.  We will respond to you by your preferred contact method if you have indicated one.

Changes to our policy

This privacy policy may require updating from time to time. Any changes will be updated on our website.  Your continued use of this website constitutes your agreement to all such revisions to this privacy policy. Please check back occasionally, in case we have made changes, as we may not issue you with notice of our changes.
